Governor Andrew Cuomo announced sweeping nursing home reform legislation designed to increase transparency, hold nursing home operators accountable for misconduct.
The New Legislation will focus on:
- Increasing transparency through measures requiring the posting of provider rates, identifying facility owners, disclosing contracts and agreements that rely on Medicaid or Medicare funds, and including information about staff,
- Holding nursing home owners and operators accountable for any misconduct through fines,
- Reforms that prioritize patient care over profit.
